The new Suzuki Slingshot 125 cc comes with air coiled single cylinder engine which is Suzuki’s Pulsed Secondary AIR injection system which reduces emission and it has sharp looking alloys and thin blades – made from light weight material. Some of its prominent features are five speed gear box, drum brakes, new Zeus engine, electric start, high ground clearance and BS III emission norms.

Appearance

The new Suzuki Slingshot has sharp Yamaha FZ S kind of mask, fuel tank has the new graphics and the wheels are multi- spoke alloy wheels supported by drum brakes .The tyres are wide and long, and the tail end is sharper as compared to the front part. The bike supports both electric and self start up.

The dashboard is implanted on the top of the headlamp cluster and the mask has been made in body color. The turn indicators are located in the headlamp cluster and it is designed big in shape. The fuel tank is bigger although the capacity is same as previous model. The fuel tank also has stickers. The step up seat has a separate space designed for the rider that separates it from the pillion. The grab rail is painted in different color and rear panel also has graphics.

Engine

The bike has 125cc, 4 stroke, air cooled, SOHC , single cylinder engine that gives a maximum power output of 8.5 Bhp @ 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 10 Nm@3500 rpm. The engine has the 5 speed gearbox and the gear shifting pattern can vary from down to 4 up. The carburetor is VM 18 and the ignition system used is CDI.

The new bike gives fuel efficiency of 60 kmpl.

Color

It is available in four shades Metallic Mustard Yellow, Metallic Fox Orange, Candy Antares Red, and Pearl Nebular Black. The colors are used on the mask, fuel tank, front fender and the side panels – otherwise the color used is mostly black.

Ride and handling

The new bike has drum brakes which provides complete riding support and stability to the biker. The new bike comes with many features resembling Zeus – the coil spring, telescopic front fork, the oil damped fork and the swing arm.

The new Suzuki Slingshot has bigger wheels and fat tyres which gives better performance and the bike has the 18 inch multi spoke alloy wheel that helps to increase fuel efficiency .The high ground clearance of 160mm makes it easy to ride off the roads and the wheelbase of 1265mm provides complete stability .The sitting position is comfortable due to the presence of step up seats.

The sale of Maruti Alto picked up in the last few months as the company launched the new improved version at a cost price of Rs. 3.03 Lakhs. The new Alto has the K10B engine and the base version ( Lxi ) is priced at Rs 3.16.

Car makers have realized that the average Indian buyer requires the basic features at a low cost and the market is getting extremely competitive .Maruti is one of the first companies to understand the needs of Indian buyers. Many western car companies are trying to launch products in Indian markets because it is a growing market, and the new model of Alto gives a stiff competition to many of these high cost models.

Colors

The car has been launched in two models Lxi and Vxi, and it is available in 6 colors Sunlight Copper, Superior White, Fire Brick Red, Midnight Black, Silky silver and Ecru Beige.

Looks

The new Alto K 10 is inspired from Zen and Alto 800 cc .The looks have the eagle eyed headlamps that makes the car look bold and the new tail lamp is round as compared to Alto 800 cc. The new car is bigger than the original Alto version which was launched eight years back and the front bumper comes with an integrated fog lamp, and front grille has the horizontal slat which has been designed in matte black color and it has the company logo on it.

Interiors

In the interiors –one can see the dual tone looks. The instrument cluster in the front contains the tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge and odometer .The higher cost models have front power windows.

It comes with the round fog lamps , eagle eyed headlamps , new bumpers in the front and rear , 3 – spoke steering wheel (which is actually very small) , new matte finish gear knob , new design of the front seats and the headrests , the parcel trays and tyre 155 / 65 R 13.

Engine and Fuel efficiency

The engine of the new car is 998 cc, three cylinder MPFi of KB series and the engine can generate power of 67 Bhp @ 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The engine provides improved performance of the car from the old model and it also provides better fuel efficiency. The engine provides the mileage of 20.2 kmpl .

Drive and Security

The car comes with collapsible steering column and headlight leveling device. The suspension system is improved to reduce jerks on bumps and child lock is provided for the rear door. The brake system is improved and central locking is provided to improve the safety.

iCATS has been provided to improve the security of the car and a high ground clearance meet the requirements of rural Indian roads.

The new Volkswagen car is launched in the sedan section and it is called the Volkswagen Vento .The car is scheduled for launched in India on September 6 and it has been priced in the range from Rs 7 to 9.5 lakhs. The 1.6 litres engine can deliver maximum power of 105PS @ 4400 rpm and maximum torque of 250 NM @ 1500-2500 rpm, whereas, the maximum fuel efficiency provided by the car is 20.54 Km/l.

The fuel efficiency of 5 – speed manual is 15.83 Km/l and 8 speed automatic gear box versions is 14.4Km/l.

Looks and design

Colors :

The Trendline and Highline models have been launched in Candy White and Flash Red and the Highline variants are launched in four colors — which includes the Shadow blue, Reflex Silver, Deep black and Terra Beige .

Externals:

Externally the car has body color bumpers, the chrome color front grille, the exterior door handles, the mirrors colored in body color and zinc coat which comes with anti rust warranty.

The front design looks hatch backed and the saloon version of the previous model of Volkswagan called the Polo is also very much similar to the new car in looks. The griller and the headlights are protruding and noteworthy and the squarish tail lamp is also attractive.

Internals:

The interiors of the cars has a good storage compartment , the sunglass storage glove box , the roof handles with coats which can be folded, the armrest , and fabric upholstery and cup holders.

The car has been introduced in two engine versions 1.6 Litre Petrol and 1.6 Litre Diesel. Both the engines provide 105 bhp and torque provided by the petrol version is 153 NM and by diesel version is 250 NM. The car engine has the four valves and the double overhead camshafts.

Maruti A Star was launched with a new automatic gear version on the Independence Day by the company and the new feature has been integrated to the Vxi model of the car. The new car is priced at Rs 4.34 lakhs. The new Maruti A – Star is equipped with 4 speed automatic gears and it has the standard ABS as well the driver seat adjustment equipment. The new system will provide easy driving.

The car fulfills the emission standards and it does not use mercury, lead in its make. It is exported in the name of Suzuki Alto in the international market. The new car comes with the so called ELV (end of life vehicles) specifications which are commonly found in Europe.

Externally the design is hatchback and the headlamps are eye shaped which has the wide open grill and small lead shaped fog lamp. Royal Enfield is a bike manufacturing company based in Chennai and first the Bullet 350 cc, single cylinder model was launched in 1948.The Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark was one of the first bikes to get the Twinspark UCE engine and it was launched in November 2009 in India. RE launched four versions in 346cc which includes the Classic, Thunderbird Twinspark, Bullet 350 Twinspark and Electra Twinspark.

The new bike has the Unit Construction Engine which replaces the old cast iron engines. The transformation to UCE technology started with Thunderbird Twinspark, and later the models Classic (500cc & 350cc) and Bullet Electra Twinspark have also been transformed to UCE.

Look

Bullet 350cc comes with a strange sound like a bullet which gives it a peculiarity. The wheelbase is long as compared to other bikes and the weight is more which gives the impression of stability .It can handle heavy weight and is strong bike where the tyres are big and the engine comes with full mud guard and foot gear with a convenient gear shift option. The new UCE model almost resembles the earlier model of the bike with all the black color paint and the front drum brakes. The traditional badge and the design can also be located on it. Bajaj launched a Pulsar variant in 135 cc segment and the new bike is equipped with the DTSI LS features .The unique features of the bike includes the four valves and the light weight frame which enables the bike to be easy to handle on crowded streets and markets. It has been launched in the light weight sports segment.

Looks and Design

The bike has been launched in two colors Wine Red and the Midnight Black. It resembles XCD spirit in looks although, the first impression may not be great but if you look closely it appears very stylish and descent. The new style of fuel tank and the air scoops are taken from Bajaj XCD Spirit. The wheels are basically Black Matt Finish Mag alloy wheels and the instrument panel is designed in digital format.

The headlamp and the LED tail lamp also resemble the XCD Spirit whereas the turn indicators and the exhaust are amazingly new in format. The split seats and the split grab rails are comfortably designed to suit average biker’s need and the rear comes with a sporty mud guard to enable durability.

The overall look is a bit aggressive having the fuel tank and the chiseled fuel tank.

Look and Design

Comfort and ride

It has an “Idle stop” system – if it is enabled, the bike will automatically stop after 3 seconds and restart if the throttle grip is twisted. The mode can be switched on and off and it is positioned on the handlebar .Its improves fuel efficiency by 5%.

The compact structure, the wide legroom, height of 760 mm, and wheelbase of 1305 mm offers easy ride and handling. The telescopic fork in the front and swing arm dual shock in the rear enables easy handling and the single cylinder 4 stroke provides automatic shutdown and reboot.

The tyres are 14″ and wheels is made up of 5 – spoke cast aluminum .It comes with a combined brake system and the front disc brake is 220 mm and the rear brake is drum brake which makes it smooth and comfortable to ride the bike.

The new bike of Hero Honda — Karizma ZMR is powered with a 225 cc engine and it has been equipped with new disc rear brakes, gas charged shock absorbers and has increased efficiency. The bike comes with new features such as oil cooled engine and Programmed Fuel Injection. It has been launched against YZF – R 15, Pulsar 220 and Apache.

Looks

The new bike has been launched in five colors Panther Black, Vibrant Blue, Sports Red, Moon Yellow and Pearl White and it looks heavier .It has unique graphics embedded into the stickers and as compared to the model R 15 (150 cc ) – it is very aggressive in looks with the fresh paint quality and rear view mirrors on the front . The ZMR sticker is an attraction and the Knee Rest is same as in R 15.The Rear LED and Grab rails resemble Xtreme .From front to rear the bike gets sloppy.

Instrument cluster

The new headlamp has the blinkers feature and it has LED tail lamps. The main attraction is the instrument cluster which can display digital readings from tachometer which is designed in round shape and it helps the bikers to get quick readings even in dark. The cluster includes meters for speed, fuel, revolution count, clock and the trip meter.

The switchgear is almost the same and it is designed in typical style although there is no engine kill switch provided by the bike. The instrument clusters depict two colors — white and orange colors are used for lights and the split clip is placed on the handle bars whereas the split grab rails and the rear mud guard is positioned appropriately.

Engine

The bike has 223 cc engine and the new bike takes in fuel injection to deliver improved power of 17.6 Bhp at 7000 rpm and the torque is increased to 18.35 Nm @ 6000 rpm. It can run at the top speed of 126 km / h and it picks up in 3.7 seconds.(The highest speed delivered by Pulsar 220 is 144 km / h).It has the PGM – Fi system which comes with 12 hole fuel injector and 16 bit ECU .

The engine operations are scanned by the 6 censors that check the pressure , temperature of engine and air – fuel ratio under different conditions and the advanced vertical oil cooler provides air cooling to deliver a high power .The idle air control valve (IACV ) is attached to the machine to provide better stability and to control throttle changes.

Comfort and ride

It is fast as compared to previous models of Hero Honda. The steady acceleration enables smooth drive and the bike also provides high fuel efficiency. The ride quality is improved because of ZMR technology and the telescopic forks in the front helps to provide stability. The inverted Gas Reservoir System is fixed at the rear and the pillion offers complete comfort on bumpy roads.

The split on handle bar on the ends provide better grip and the cowl mounted mirrors for rear view provide a better vision .The cockpit designed with the sound features for welcome and sign off is amazing. The instrument cluster include the digital bar tachometer, the trip meters, the mileage indicator, digital fuel indicator, clock and the bar tachometer.

New bike Bajaj Avenger 220 is different from Avenger 200 for the new engine and improved seating position. There are many other new features introduced in the new bike .Bajaj launched Eliminator in 2001 and it launched Avenger 180 in 2005 .Eliminator was designed on imported engine and it was a successful bike until Bajaj designed Avenger 180 that was completely Indian bike Avenger 180 delivers a maximum power of 16.5 bhp and highest torque of 15.22 Nm .

Bajaj upgraded the bike and introduced the oil cooling feature in 2007 in Avenger 200.The maximum power delivered by Avenger 200 was 17.5PS (@8000rpm) and the maximum torque delivered by the bike is 16.7Nm @6000.The latest model launched by Bajaj is Avenger 220 which provides cruiser like experience.

Looks

The new bike has been introduced in 4 colors Plasma Blue, Mist Grey Silver, Cocktail Wine Red, and Midnight Black. The design of Bajaj 200 and 220 are almost same except for the presence of new windshield and the new logo on the side panels’ .The exhaust is changed to provide a better torque but its look is almost same as the older version.

Engine

The engine of the new bike has been upgraded from 198.8cc of 200 cc to 219.89 cc .It is made on a 4-stroke, air cooled, single cylinder, DTSi engine which exactly matches the design of Pulsar 220.The power delivered by the new bike ranges from 1.5 PS to 19.03 PS, and the maximum power generated is 19 Bhp at 8100 rpm and maximum torque is 17.5 Nm at 7000 rpm. Avenger appears to deliver the same power and torque as Pulsar 220 but it has been found that the performance is slightly less than Pulsar.

The new bike has 4 oil cooler chambers as compared to 3 of Avenger 200 and the chamber provides optimum air cooling at a minimal drop of power.

Ride and handling

The bike resembles Royal Enfield in looks and the weight of the bike is 154.5 kgs – which allows it to be easy to handle. The wheelbase is 17″in the front and 15″ in the rear. The handlebar is flat having the twin down tube frame and it has round headlamp and multi spooked chrome plated wheels. The rear view mirrors are rectangular in shape and the aluminium levers make it appear glossy. The windshield is an attraction.

The stability of the bike is improved and rider can get a complete cruising experience .A neat oil cooler is provide in the bike which ensures low temperatures .The muscular frame , lean structure , spark plugs helps in improving the efficiency and mileage.

New features of Bajaj Avenger 220

Bajaj launch Kawasaki Ninja 250R in India – the bike which is an entry level sports motorcycle since 1983 has been marketed in US, UK and other parts of the world. It is a high power sports bike and the spares of the bike are imported from Thailand and Japan .It can be bought from Bajaj Showrooms and it is priced above Rs 2.5 Lakhs.(Too much!)

In the high cost range –the bikes available in India are —Karizma ZMR, Bajaj Pulsar 220 and Yamaha R15, and the cost of these bikes is under Rs 1 Lakhs, but the maximum power offered by the three bikes is not more than 21 bhp @ 8500 rpm ,whereas, Ninja offers 32.5 bhp @ 11000 rpm.

Ninja is designed to provide saddled back seating positions which almost falls in the sports bike range. Its engine performance is 131.93 km / h and it has space for cargo transportation and second passenger. 250 R is a fourth generation bike from Ninja which has been designed to provide easy ride as compared to previous models.

Appearance

It has been offered in Lime Green colour and Ebony Black, and it is also marketed in red and blue colours. It is one of the most attractive bikes on Indian roads, although, the price tag doesn’t suit an average biker but the looks and the performance of bike is amazing. The front portion is made from large plastic and steel material, and it has very burly looks.

The rear views and the dual headlamp are designed to get a better look. A windscreen is provided to prevent air blast and the front fuel indicator provides a tough look to the bike. The mask covering the front portion to the fuel tank make it look more artistic, and the company’s monogram can be spotted over the petrol tank and the air scoops.

Wheels

The racing strings can be seen on the rim and the 6 spoke alloy wheel is also present to improve the stability of the bike. Helmet holder can be seen on the rear seat, and the tail is slim and sharp having a step – up seat.

The instrument panel is in analog format and all the meters – speedometers, odometers, tachometers and the trip meter show analogue numbers. The signals are provided for low fuel, low oil, high oil temperature, low battery and choke in air filters.
