Hyundai i10

Hyundai launched its new car i10 that is first to make a world debut from India. The car is powered wit 1.1 liter, iRDE petrol engine and is aimed to give great fuel efficiency to its users. The company Hyundai Motor India is aiming to achieve a target of 20% market share as compared to the current 18%.Hyundai i10 is a compact car and also is less expensive car in the range.

The car will be launched in London in March 2008. Cost wise the car is slotted between Santro and Getz in India and it will also be considered to be a replacement for Santro in the western markets. The company is currently testing the car in Chennai. The market is dominated by many mid range cars like Chevrolet spark, Zen Estilo, WagonR and Tata Indica Xeta and the new car will have to compete with these.

Look of the car

The i10 is a five seater and has five doors having length 3.56 m and width 1.59 m .The car is compact and spacious. The wheels of the car are pushed out to increase the space inside the car. The initial models of the car are launched with an inbuilt AC and electric front windows, central lock system, body color bumpers and six speaker stereos.

Yamaha has launched its two bikes in India MTR01 and YZF R1.The Japanese Company’s spokesperson said that the company will be coming up with new products in the Expo held in January 2008.Both the bikes will initially be launched in major cities like Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai.

The launch bikes will be imported from European countries. The MTR01 has a 1,680 cc engine and YZF R1 is powered with a 998 cc engine. The bike may cost up to 10.5 lakhs when bought through an ex showroom in New Delhi and initially only five dealers will be given to sell the bikes. The dealers will increase to 50 by the end of the decade. The YZF-R1 is one of the most technically advanced bikes introduced in India by Yamaha that is one of the foremost Open-class production motorcycle.

The new bike has been improved with redesigned stylish head lights and a LED taillight. The design is fixed with a bigger ram-air intake and has got a screw less windscreen. Mahindra Renault Logan

The car Renault Logan is one of the foremost cars introduced by Mahindra and Renault together in India. This is one of the widest cars in the segment C and its body type is Sedan. Renault is a low cost car and it lacks the styling of expensive cars in the first impression but after having a few rides the feeling can change. The car has lots of space. Initially the car was introduced in 11 cities in India. The car is extremely economical to use having a high mileage of 19 kpl.

Look of the car

The initial impression doesn’t make the car to be counted among the stylish range of four wheelers but as you sink in the back seat it makes you feel really good. The car comes in 6 colors Toreador Red, Diamond White, Black, Mist Silver, Sahara Beige and Turf Green. The car can be compared to Ford Ikon as it looks similar on watching from a few angles and in comparison to Ford’s Fiesta and Hyundai’s Verna it has fewer style and comfort.

The body of the car is stiff and it has a single square shaped dashboard, a good glove box having cubbyhole is present. The circular aircon is powerful and steering wheel is large that has a badge to hide the tacho and speedo. Cup holders and hand brakes are well placed. Switchgear and digital display are also easy to find. The car suspension is designed to suit the Indian roads and you can keep items in it without caring about the ground clearance.

Engine, Power, Torque

The car powered with a common-rail diesel engine has power is 65bhp at 4000 rpm. The car easily goes over 40 kmph mark which is better than a petrol model in the same range. For a petrol car the engine has a power of 75bhp@5500rpm and torque is 110Nm@3000rpm. The car has 4 cylinders and 8 valves and displacement goes to 1390 cc.

Comfort

The 1.5 D logon has a good NVH control and the noise of engine is not very high like other diesel cars. The car is wider and spacious in its range and when compared to Toyota Corolla .The rear is impressive where all the three seated feel comfortable in the back .The front seats are also wide and the car is attached with the driver side airbags like other popular models.

The driver is also protected through the honeycomb dashboard from the front impact and the cross member at the rear protect from the rear hit. The mirrors are small and the left mirror is placed badly to be obstructed by A-pillar clad. The switches are not well placed.

The models on Logon come with power steering, power windows, remote fuel lid and power locking. The car does not have an internal boot release. As compared to Fiesta or Verna the gearbox is not very polished but is comfortably fitted. The five speed gearbox brings you into action easily.

Review of Hero Honda Hunk

Hero Honda has come up with a new bike in the 150cc called ‘Hunk’ (What a name!!).The company has launched two varieties of the bike in the same name ‘Hunk’ ,one is kick start and the other is a self start bike .The two types of models differ in their market costs. The kick start costs Rs 2000 less than the self start Hunk of Hero Honda. Hero Honda has 5 models in the 150 cc range and it includes Hunk, Karizma, CBZ Extrem and. Achiever.

The market of bikes has been dominated by Pulsar but Hero Honda is trying to get into the competition with the introduction of its new bike in the market in the range of 150cc.

Sporty Look of the Bike

The look of the bike is definitely a upright one having a brawny styling. The bike is available in the market in four colors black, blue, red and silver. The cover of air filter and battery are of black and silver colors and the tail extension has a dual black color painted on it.

The engine is also not the typical black in color but it has got silver and gray colors on it. The front forks and gas filled rear have copper and gray colors. The bike has got a big tank and black alloy wheels. The bike is like Pulsar 180 DTSi in the way it has come up with the all black fashion.

On comparing Hunk to CBZ Xtreme, the engine specifications, the power and torque are not as such modified in the new bike but many other few features have been added to make it perform and look better.

The air cooled, 4 stroke and single cylinder, 150cc engine of Hunk is powered with 14.4Ps @ 8500rpm and has got 12.80 Nm @ 6500 RPM of torque. The displacement of the bike is 149.2 cc. The front suspension is telescopic and rear suspension is a rectangular swingram. A new GRS, 5 step Gas Reservoir Suspension (GRS) is attached to the bike at the rear and 5 spokes are also colored in black. The capacity of tank is 12.4 liters and the usable reserve goes to 2.2 liters.

Comfort and Ride

The riding position in Hunk is very comfortable and it is smooth up to 6000rpm.The professional design in the looks of the new bike Hunk is its selling point as compared to CBZ Xtreme. The Goiter shape turn indicator in CBZ Xtreme has been removed in the new bike and tank look is changed to the type found in a few Yamaha Gladiator models which is a big plastic tank. The same kind of tank will be seen in the coming model of TVS called TVS Flame. The plastic extension has the name of the bike which reads Hunk.

The chassis of the Hunk is a tubular diamond shaped and the rear wheel mud flap looks like the rear flaps of Bajaj Pulsars models. The front brake is a 240 mm dia disc and the rear one is a 130 mm drum type. The wheelbase is 1325 mm and ground clearance is 145.

The front rim is made up of1.85 X 18 of alloy and rear rim is of 2.15 X 18 of alloy .The headlight is of the halogen type having12V 35/35W light and tail light is 12V - 5W .There are 4 turn signal lights and clear lens that are of multi reflector type to help the rider.
